CYPRUS DEEP CAMP
SOME OPPORTUNITIES DON'T COME OFTEN
Training with Carlos Coste in Europe is one of them — with Carlos guiding the camp, coaching in the water, and working closely with freedivers throughout the week.

The Cyprus Deep Camp is a focused week of deep freediving in the Mediterranean, led by Carlos together with Petra Oberucova. The camp combines line training, technique, equalization, and the mental tools that support real, sustainable depth progression. Alongside structured training, the week also leaves room for exploration and enjoyment: wreck diving on one of the world’s most iconic shipwrecks, relaxed underwater exploration, and an optional visit to the underwater sculpture museum.
It’s not a course, and it’s not a retreat. It’s a deep camp designed for freedivers who want to train with intention, explore with curiosity, and genuinely enjoy time in the water.
THE SETTING — LARNACA, CYPRUS
Larnaca offers something rare for deep freediving training: simplicity that works.
In June, the Mediterranean here is typically warm and calm, with visibility often exceeding 30 meters. Access to dive sites is easy, with short boat rides of 10–15 minutes, allowing for efficient training days and minimal logistics. Less travel time means more energy for the water.
The conditions are well suited for consistent line training — clean blue water, stable weather, and a relaxed Mediterranean rhythm that supports both performance and recovery. Larnaca is easy to reach, easy to navigate, and ideal for a week dedicated fully to diving.

WHAT THIS DEEP CAMP IS ABOUT
This deep camp is about time in the water, quality training, and space to progress at your own pace.
The focus is on refining technique, improving efficiency, and better understanding how your body and mind work together at depth. Training days are calm and well structured, with an emphasis on safety, awareness, and individual feedback rather than performance pressure.
This is the same approach we use across all Freediving Explorations deep camps — thoughtful sessions, clear structure, and steady progression built through technique, patience, and presence.
The camp is open to all levels. Training depth and focus are adapted individually, whether you’re strengthening fundamentals or working toward more advanced depth goals.
TRAINING STRUCTURE
Each training day includes:
-
Dry warm-up and mobility
-
Equalization practice and workshop
-
Open-water line session
-
Technique and efficiency feedback
-
Mental and concentration tools
-
Recovery guidance
-
Hydration and snacks
-
Professional photo and 4K video for review and personal use
In addition to line training, the camp also includes wreck diving and underwater exploration days, allowing divers to apply technique, awareness, and relaxation beyond the line in real environments. These sessions add variety, spatial awareness, and a sense of exploration to the training week.

One day during the camp is reserved as a rest and integration day, with the option to visit the MUSAN Underwater Museum — a unique underwater sculpture park and an easy, relaxed dive that offers a very different perspective beneath the surface.

Your Coaches
Together, Carlos Coste and Petra Oberucova offer a coaching approach centered on depth awareness, technical precision, and mental clarity. Rather than pushing performance, the emphasis is on understanding the process — helping divers develop confidence, consistency, and a deeper connection to their own technique in a calm, structured, and safety-driven environment.
SUPPORTING TEAM - FREEDOM FREEDIVING
The Cyprus Deep Camp is supported locally by Freedom Freediving, a well-established freediving center based in Larnaca, providing in-water support, logistics, and local expertise throughout the week.

Pavlos Kourtellas
Pavlos is the founder and director of Freedom Freediving and one of the most experienced figures in the Cypriot freediving community. A multiple national record holder and AIDA Instructor Trainer, he has competed internationally and organized numerous depth and pool competitions, bringing strong technical knowledge, local insight, and calm leadership to the camp.

Nela Ukropcova
Nela is a freediving instructor, athlete, and AIDA judge who represents her nation at international competitions, including participation in World Championships, and holds multiple national records. As a coach, she focuses on helping divers build solid foundations, gain confidence in their skills, and enjoy the process that brought them to freediving in the first place.
WRECK DIVING — PART OF THE EXPERIENCE
Just offshore from Larnaca lies the Zenobia wreck, one of the most iconic wrecks in the world.
The Zenobia rests on her side between approximately 18 and 42 meters, offering impressive scale, excellent visibility, and abundant marine life. Over the years, she has become both a historical landmark and a thriving artificial reef.
During the camp, one to two days will be dedicated to wreck diving, conditions permitting. These sessions add an important dimension to the week — spatial awareness, relaxed exploration, and the opportunity to apply technique beyond the line. In addition to Zenobia, the area offers other wrecks and underwater structures, making this a true playground alongside the deep camp training.
GROUP STRUCTURE & SAFETY
To maintain a high standard of safety and individual attention, the camp is limited to a maximum of 12 participants.
-
4 buoys / lines
-
3 participants per line
The coaching and safety team consists of four highly experienced instructors, all with deep backgrounds in freediving and professional safety work. This structure allows for smooth sessions, clear flow, and a calm training environment throughout the week.
