One-Day Freediving Adventure in the Sea of Cortez

Freediving, Learning & Exploration — Done Properly

Spend a full day on the Sea of Cortez combining freediving, ocean exploration, and a deeper understanding of marine life.

This is for people who want more than a boat trip and more than a quick encounter. The day is shaped around good conditions, time in the water, and learning — learning how to freedive better, how to move more comfortably in the ocean, and how to read what’s happening around you.

Led by Carlos Coste, 12-time world-record freediver, and Petra Oberucova, marine-life specialist, educator, and underwater photographer, the experience naturally blends training, exploration, and observation. Encounters may range from sea lions and mobula rays to dolphins, pelagic species, and — at certain times of year — orcas moving through the Sea of Cortez.

Unrushed. Well guided. Focused on quality rather than quantity.

What This Day Is Really About

Freediving with purpose
This is not just time in the water. Carlos works with participants on relaxation, technique, equalization, and efficiency — adjusting the focus depending on experience level. Whether you are refining your freediving or being introduced to it for the first time, the goal is to feel calmer, more comfortable, and more aware in the water.

Learning through real encounters
The Sea of Cortez is a living, changing system. Throughout the day, Petra explains what we see as we see it — how animals move, how they interact, and how factors like season, temperature, and food availability influence behavior.

Encounters may include dolphins, sea lions, mobula rays, mantas, pilot whales, sharks, and other pelagic species. Orcas also pass through this region at certain times of year. Rather than making promises, the focus is on understanding the ecosystem and recognizing patterns when wildlife appears.

Accessible, even if you’re new to freediving
You don’t need to be a trained freediver to join. Confident snorkelers and water‑comfortable guests are welcome. We introduce freediving skills progressively and safely, allowing participants to explore at their own pace.

A focused group, by design
The group size is intentionally limited to allow proper supervision, clear communication, and enough space in the water for everyone to enjoy the experience without pressure.
